Once again on the tape known to most Seealpsee. This time, however, in the company of Sämtisersee and Fählensee. Three mountain lakes – a promise of unforgettable experiences.
I must warn you that the route is quite demanding in terms of fitness. Three approaches are quite strenuous. To reach the first lake, Sämtisersee, you have to climb up to 1’284 m above sea level, and you start from about 800 m above sea level. The next one, Fählensee, is 1’447 m above sea level. Maybe not literally, but you have to climb up to 1’863 m above sea level and cross to the other side of the valley.
Not to mention the steep descent… Nevertheless, it’s really worth it! Especially since the soreness will be gone in 3 days and the memories will stay for a long time. Besides, I took lots of fantastic photos.
On the highest section, between Fählensee and Seealpsee, there was still some snow in May. The route is passable, however, with the right caution. And that’s hard to do with such views all around. Hoher Kasten on one side, Säntis and the Alpstein massif on the other.
As for mountain inns, only two were open at the time, one in Plattenbödeli at Sämtisersee and the whole complex at Seealpsee.
