At the start, yellow signposts guide you through the settlements of the small village of Safenwil and then lead you deep into the forest. Here, the route parallels the Aargauer Planetenweg, which, with information panels and models of the planets, allows you to learn about their sizes and the distances between them in the solar system.

A little further on, at Kölliker Grossmoos, you pass two magical ponds with beautiful water lilies, which were in wonderful bloom in July.

About one kilometre after the ponds, you need to take the Planetenweg down. I have marked out the route so that you walk along the escarpment, which offers an aerial view of the surrounding area. However, if you are absorbed by the Solar System, you can take the trail a little further down, for example in front of the Eppenberg. Examples of the paths are clearly visible on the map.

A must-see on this route is of course the Roggenhausen Wildlife Park. It is open to everyone at all times. Amongst others, fallow deer, wild boar, miniature pigs, chickens, wild turkeys, goats, sheep, marmots, rabbits, ponies and also martens live here. The entire park covers an area of approximately 15 hectares.

Unusual and at the same time unique in this park is the fruit orchard with apple, pear, plum, cherry and cherry trees. It’s a fruit dizziness.

I must admit that I actually spent quite a bit of time by the pen with the miniature pigs that were wallowing in the mud. The sight had a relaxing effect on me.

The park has an original playground with toy cars, seating and barbecue areas, as well as a restaurant.

Unfortunately, not all of the path is passable for pushchairs, as there are steps, protruding tree roots and stones. However, there are several other routes leading directly from the town of Aarau to the Wildlife Park, including the Aargauer Planetenweg. This would certainly be an interesting route for an excursion with the little ones.

Finally, there is no car park directly at the park. The nearest one is about one kilometre away, on Schönenwerderstrasse.
