Wasserflue is a mountain in the Swiss Jura with an altitude of 866 m above sea level. You will probably say that it is a micro mountain. But you have to admit that for the canton of Aargau, it’s a pretty decent elevation. It is also a well-known vantage point, offering a fantastic panorama. In sight are the Alpstein massif, the Glarner and the Swarzwald, among others.

It is easy to track down this wooded mountain, thanks to the 112-metre-high transmitter tower, which is located on this hill and projects high above the treetops.

I started my hike to Wasserflue from the Küttigen Kreuz bus stop. I chose this point because there are three buses going there from Aarau train station. You can, of course, go even higher up to the Küttigen Fischbach bus stop and thus avoid the somewhat noisy section next to the roadway. However, you have to reckon with the fact that only one bus (no. 136) reaches this area. There is also a car park at the Bänkerjoch station on the route.

The trail leads largely through the forest. In spring and summer you also pass fields with freshly mown grass and ripening grain. Nearby, sheep graze on the meadows. And in the distance, you can see lush hills. It is very idyllic and pleasant.

At the Alpenzeiger station, there is another viewpoint with a fantastic panorama of the town of Aarau.

On the final section of the route, already entering the streets of Aarau, you pass through pretty housing estates with detached houses. Then there is the river Aare and two bridges to get to the town centre. I traditionally end the walk at the train station.
