This is a fantastic hike to the viewpoint on the Stockhorn mountain and then over the Strüssligrat ridge to Oberstockesee lake.

The route starts at Lake Hinderstockesee (intermediate station Chrindi), which can be reached by the Stockhornbahn train from Erlenbach im Simmental.

This picturesque lake with its wooded peninsula on the western shore and with paths prepared for wheelchair users, is a fantastic option for a light walk.

After Hinderstockesee, the trail leads a few hundred metres up to the Stockhorn. There you will find a restaurant with a sizable viewing terrace, which invites you to rest before continuing your hike.

Continuing down the Strüssligrat ridge gradually opens up a view of another beautifully situated Oberstockesee lake. However, the descent here is not easy and requires concentration. So be careful and watch your step.

As an interesting side note, the two lakes – Hinderstocke- and Oberstockesee – are connected by a tunnel. They feed the small power station “Klusi”, built between 1944 and 1946.

On the way back to the intermediate station Chrindi, you can still enjoy the view of Lake Hinderstockesee, this time from the other side.

Finally, I would still like to point out that the mountain railway station is a bit far from the railway station in Erlenbach im Simmental. The walk takes about 15 minutes. However, the village is so charming that the journey may take you a little longer. As far as motorists are concerned, the car park is right next to the cable car.
