Davos, the city at 1’560 m above sea level, is known worldwide for its spas, winter and summer sports centres and as a venue for numerous congresses, including the World Economic Forum.
Alpine marathons, cross-country skiing, vintage car rallies, triathlons, ski and toboggan races and much more are held here every year.
Speaking of toboggan races, it is interesting to note that the small wooden toboggan, familiar to almost everyone from childhood, was and still is modelled on the original “Davos” toboggan.
The first official toboggan race was held in the town in 1883, starting a centuries-old tradition of toboggan production with the unchanging “Davos” inscription. From that day onwards, a multi-generational love of these small wooden toboggans grew.
In summary, there is a lot going on in this Davos. It may seem that only silence and tranquillity will not be experienced there. And yet …
On a sunny October morning, there were few hikers on the path above the town. I was able to enjoy the fantastic mountain panorama in silence. Only in the distance could I see skiers taking advantage of the first snow.
In the section above Höhenweg station, there were also a few centimetres of frozen snow. The path was as passable as possible, but you had to look underfoot and be careful.
I would also advise you to look at the accompanying map beforehand, as the trails here are poorly marked. Of course, it is great to let yourself be carried away by nature. Worse when you only notice an hour later that you are going in a completely different direction.
Take a stress-free approach, however. After all, this route is not in the middle of nowhere.
