Parpan is a small village with around three hundred inhabitants. But during the winter season it turns into a bustling winter sports centre.

The route starts at the Parpan Post bus stop. Next to it are a car park and a shop where you can buy local produce and something warm to drink and eat.

Above the village, on a small hill, stands the Alpkäserei Parpan cheese factory, which was built out of an old barn. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. You can buy a variety of cheeses on site and get a sneak peek at how they are made (in the months of May to September) and stored. A guided tour of the cheese factory and refreshments are also on offer.

As you continue to the Mittelberg station, you can admire the magnificent mountain range of the Parpaner peaks and the traditional wooden houses scattered around.

On the way back to Parpan it gets more bustling, thanks to the people doing cross-country skiing. This is because the trail overlaps with a cross-country skiing trail in this section.

Finally, the entire trail is well signposted and snow-covered. Therefore, it can also be walked without snowshoes.
