This short but very scenic route leads from the train stop at Ospizio Bernina to two of the only hotels in the area and then directly to the summit of Piz Campasc.
Piz Campasc is a massive, steep mountain in the Swiss Alps. It is located near the Swiss border and is 2,598 meters high.
Bernina Express Panorama Train
The small Ospizio Bernina station is located at 2,256 m above sea level, making it the highest station on the route of the world-famous Bernina Express.
This panorama train starts in Chur and travels about four hours to Tirano, Italy. It passes through 55 tunnels and over 196 bridges. Throughout the entire route, travelers can enjoy extraordinary views.
A beautiful mountain panorama with a glacier and the Lago Bianco is also guaranteed when hiking to Piz Campasc.
Route Conditions
I would describe the section from the train station to the summit as a pleasant walk where you can enjoy the views. However, the ascent to the summit is much more challenging. The path is steep, and the ground is unstable due to slipping stones. Special caution is required here. I also do not recommend climbing this mountain when it is wet and slippery.
At the top, there is plenty of space to take a break and enjoy the view. The return route leads back to the Ospizio Bernina station.
Finally, I would like to add that there is a paid parking lot opposite the hotel.
