High above the village of Engelberg runs a winter trail with fantastic views of the Alps. It starts at the Trübsee lake, which is accessible by gondola lift.

During the winter season, the cable car is quite crowded and noisy with attractive ski runs, amazing views of the Titlis mountain (3’238m) and glaciers, snowmobiles and much more. But don’t let this put you off, it is much quieter and quieter behind the lake.

There are two lookout points along the route, to which the path leads slightly uphill. The first is Bitzi and the second is Chrüzhubel. They are located on opposite peaks and will therefore reveal a different panorama to you.

Also look out for chamois on the rocks, as there are some in the area. We managed to spot two, although they may have been the first to spot us.

The trail itself is very well marked with pink posts and paths trodden by winter hikers. There are also snow-covered and paved sections that are suitable for walking without snowshoes.
