A great idea to spend a nice and interesting day is a visit to the Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park Goldau. It’s not just for children, but for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, nature and animals.

The place offers a lot of different attractions. It is, therefore, best to set aside a few hours for a leisurely tour.

You should also check the feeding times of the various animals in advance so that you don’t miss anything and have a lot of fun.

The bear and wolf feeding show is the most popular. This is because the animals do not like to be seen by humans and most of the time they hide in the woods. However, at feeding time they come out of their hiding places and you can take a closer look. The animal keepers tell you a few interesting facts about their habits and favourite treats.

Information about feeding times can be found at the park entrance.

Feeding the park residents yourself is also an unusual experience. Throughout the park, there are vending machines with special food for the animals (cost CHF 3). Just don’t forget to take a small change with you.

Amongst other things, you can feed the ducks, fish, roe deer and mouflons, which stroll outside the fence and demand delicacies.

Close encounters with owls, ravens and vultures also await you. This is thanks to a huge cage with a high-hanging net that anyone can enter.

The ponds, on the other hand, are home to many water birds that have grown accustomed to the place and no longer fly away to warm countries for the winter. They are also home to many fish, which you can watch through a large glass window (Unterwasserfenster).

In addition to the animal enclosures, the park has several restaurants, playgrounds and barbecue areas. Sausages for the barbecue can also be bought locally in the shop.
And for those who are not afraid of heights, I recommend climbing the tower, which is about 30 metres high. Be warned, however, that there is no lift. To see fantastic views from the platform you have to overcome 144 steps. However, it is worth getting a little tired.

For a better orientation in this vast area, I recommend taking a map of the park, which is available at the ticket offices. This will make it easier to quickly find not only your favourite animals but also the toilets and resting places.
