We wake up early in the morning and head towards Bad Ragaz. Outside the window it is rainy, October weather. But we do not give up. We have not walked in Alps for over a month, so the motivation is high. Moreover, there is an interesting route in prospect with amazing views of Pizol and surrounding mountain ranges. The impressive Churfirsten mountain range is also visible from a distance.

I should write it would be visible, if it weren’t for the clouds and fog that gave us the impression. At times, they densely covered everything around, giving a visibility of just 3 metres. However, the wind was kind and for a while it uncovered gems which I managed to capture on photos.

In sunny weather, when visibility is perfect, the views are definitely more spectacular and the sun warms the face nicely. Nevertheless, such an autumn climate also has its charm. The palette of colours is completely different than in summer, unique, and then there are the thick morning mists wrapping the landscape. All this creates a magical, somewhat dreamy atmosphere. It is also much quieter on the trail. Not everyone likes walking in the fog.

For us, this trip was definitely a success. I have to dig out my hat and gloves for next weekend though, as I am still in summer mode. It was hard for me to say goodbye to summer. It always passes so quickly.

Finally, when we arrived in Bad Ragaz, we took bus number 456 and got off at the final stop of the Bad Ragaz Pizolbahn. We then took the mountain railway to Pardiel station. The website states that if weather conditions change, the train times may also change. So before setting off, make sure there is something to take you up the mountain.
