If you have not yet been to Amden (Canton of St. Gallen), I highly recommend going there, both in winter and summer. It is a beautiful area with many interesting hiking trails.

The route I have suggested offers fantastic views of Säntis and the Churfirsten mountain range, among other things. The route leads through snow-covered meadows, mountain slopes and forest groves.

The route starts and ends at the Arvenbüel Arven bus stop, from where bus no. 650 runs to the railway station in Ziegelbrücke. The views from the bus window alone are already pleasing to the eye and promise a fantastic hiking experience.

Once there, walk up towards the chairlift. A few metres higher up you are on a snow-covered winter trail.

After a kilometre or so, you will have to leave the snow-covered road and take a less comfortable, but much more attractive route. Unless there is a lot of snow the day before, the trodden path should be clearly visible. It leads down to a frozen creek and then up to the highest point on the route, from where you have a view of Säntis. Snowshoes will come in handy on this section.

The trail is not well signposted. However, if you follow the map and yellow signposts, you should not deviate from the route.
