This route is perfect for lovers of suspension bridges and great views. By the way, this is my second suspension bridge in Switzerland (the first is in Randa). The start and end of the hike are at Monte Carasso. So motorists can easily take this route.

But first you have to get there. Take the train to Bellinzona. Take bus no. 2 or 311 to the Monte Carasso Cunvént stop and turn left.

At the beginning the route passes by small vineyards. The first 2 hours are uphill with short stretches where you can rest for a while. The advantage is that on a hot day, the trees protect from the sun.

The walk to the bridge takes about 2 hours. It is located at 696 m above sea level and rises 130 m above the ground. Walking across it is quite an experience, as the bridge is 270 metres long and only 1 metre wide. Passing someone on the other side of the bridge guarantees an adrenaline rush. But take your time, because the bridge offers a beautiful view.

It is a bit windy there, even on a calm, warm day. It is therefore advisable to bring a hooded sweatshirt or jacket.

While in Bellinzona I encourage you to visit one of the pizzerias. For me it is a must in Tessin, a substitute for Italy.
