Anzère is a small village at 1’500 m above sea level in the French-speaking part of Wallis.
Before 1960, there were only a few small mountain huts in the Anzère area. In the following years, the area has developed from a vast alpine pasture to a popular winter and summer sports centre. Holidaymakers are attracted by the beautiful hiking areas, the fantastic views of the four-thousand-metre peaks and the ski runs at an altitude of over 2’000 metres.
Take the cable car up to 2’362 metres altitude.
In Anzère, take the mountain railway up to an altitude of 2’362 m to the Pas de Maimbré station. From here, this exciting hike begins.
Initially, the route takes you along green mountain slopes where sheep graze. Then, after climbing a hill, you enter a completely different world. All around you you can see rough rocks, grey and brown in colour. The whole thing resembles a lunar landscape.
Further on, you can see parts of two glaciers. Before you, there is the turquoise lake Lac des Audannes and a walk through the greenery to Anzère station (tèlècabine). You will certainly not be bored on this trail.
Conditions on the trail
The route itself is not difficult, but requires concentration and caution. The paths on the mountain slopes are narrow and in some places unstable due to small stones. So watch your step and be careful.
