The hike begins and ends at the Sunnegga mountain station and leads to five lakes set in an extremely picturesque mountain landscape.
The lakes vary in shape, water colour and the character of their surroundings. You can also swim in some of them.
The most beautiful viewpoints
In addition, you will find some of the most beautiful viewpoints of the famous Matterhorn (4ˈ478 m) and other nearby peaks and glaciers. The fantastic views may make your head spin.
Unfortunately, the trail is very popular, especially the section behind Grünsee, and is easily accessible. This is why you will encounter many hikers and tourists on the route. However, the panorama is worth the effort.
On the way, you will pass the Ze Seewjinu mountain inn, where you can have a little something to eat. Restaurants are also open in high season at the cable car stations.
Fluhalp mountain inn
At 2ˈ620 m above sea level, there is the Fluhalp mountain inn with an extraordinary view of the Findelgletscher glacier. However, in order to reach it, you have to deviate slightly from the route.
You certainly won’t miss it. This wooden hut with red shutters is visible from the trail and looks beautiful against the backdrop of the snow-covered peaks.
Where to be careful
Finally, the greatest caution should be exercised on the last section, which runs from Stellisee Lake to Sunnegga Station. The narrow path here leads up a steep mountain slope. And the fantastic views distract from what lies ahead.
