This is one of the expeditions within the cycle “Getting to know our neighbourhood”. This time we chose the highest peak in the canton of Zürich, the Schnebelhorn, 1,292 m above sea level.
It is not high, but the route is quite pleasant, varied and with beautiful, idyllic views of the surroundings. It leads through forests, meadows, surrounding farms and along a ridge on the border between the two cantons of Zürich and St. Gallen.
At the top there is a sensational view of the Alps. It is an ideal place for a rest and a meal. The fact that the locals like the area and visit in crowds. Nevertheless, there is a piece of meadow for everyone to relax and feast their eyes on the beautiful landscape.
The ascent to the top requires a few steep climbs. However, as I always stress, the effort will be rewarded.
I recommend this route, especially in spring, when nature comes to life, trees are in blossom and green colour starts to dominate everywhere.
The start and end of the route are in the small village of Steg (Tösstal).
