For the whole family
It is a very easy and pleasant walk for the whole family, even for the youngest ones. Ideal for a walk with a pram. For family trips, we also recommend a visit to the Nature Reserve and Wildlife Park Goldau.
30 minutes by train from Zurich
The hike starts at the railway station in Pfäffikon, only 30 minutes by train from Zurich.
Great landscape
On this path, you have a wide view of the beautiful Pfäffikersee Lake, overgrown with reeds in places, and the great landscape.
The second largest lake in the Canton of Zurich
Pfäffikersee Lake is the second largest lake in the Canton of Zurich. It is about 2.5 km long and about 1.5 km wide and has a maximum depth of 36 metres. The lake and the area around it are under nature protection and have been an area of national importance since 1977.
Bathing spots and a campsite along the route
The surroundings are beautiful, especially in spring when nature comes to life and everything is in full bloom. In summer, on the other hand, you can take a dip in the water or go for a ride on a rented boat. There are bathing spots and a campsite along the route.
The ruins of the Roman fort of Irgenhausen
On the eastern shore of the lake, you can see the ruins of the Roman fort of Irgenhausen and on the western shore, you can visit the picturesque village of Seegräben. As for the fort, don’t expect a huge fortification. There is not much left of these buildings. Nevertheless, it is an additional attraction on this relaxing route.
