“A quick trip out of town” is another route on the outskirts of Zurich, among greenery and away from the city noise.
The route starts at the Fällanden Gemeindehaus bus stop, which we reached by bus 743 from Stettbach station.
Then, guided by yellow signposts, we walked through the centre of the village of Fällanden and after only a few minutes we found ourselves in the Jörentobel Gorge. Undoubtedly characteristic of this place are the huge erratic boulders from the Glarus Alps which, together with the stream and the luscious green of the trees which dominate at this time of year, create an amazing atmosphere. For me personally, this is the prettiest part of the route.
Another special point on the trail is the wooden lookout tower Lorenchopf which is more than 30 metres high and offers an amazing view of the surrounding area. The tower was built in 1954 by the Verschönerungsverein Zürich association. At its base there are several barbecue areas with benches and tables.
But that’s not all this trail has to offer. At the very end of the route in Zürichberg a fantastic view over the city and the Zürichsee awaits hikers.
