There is no shortage of fantastic views of the mountain panorama on this route. However, the stars here are the Grosser and Kleiner Mythen.
These peaks are not very high, at just 1’898 and 1’811 metres above sea level, but they stand out already from a distance. In this empty space they look like two giants, or rather three giants. For they are accompanied by the summit of the Haggenspitz (1’761 m).
At the beginning of the route, you will face an ascent to Furggelenstock (1’655 m), where a sensational panorama opens up. Slightly lower down is the Furggelen mountain inn. This is one of several places along the route where you can eat or drink. So if you are not hungry, there are other mountain inns, including one near Grosser Mythen.
A good part of the route runs through forest and flowering meadows. It is very idyllic and peaceful. We didn’t pass the first hikers until Furggelenstock.
Already descending towards Zwäcken, the view of Schwyz, Brunnen and the Lake of the Four Cantons (Vierwaldstättersee) opens up.
Further on, the path leads to the foot of the Grosser and Kleiner Mythen peaks, which were previously only visible from a distance.
In the small village of Brunni, where the trail ends, there are several restaurants and a shop selling local specialities (I recommend the mild Büffel cheese made from buffalo milk).
Actually, there is no need to go further to the point – Brunni SZ Restaurant, as there is also a bus stop behind the mountain railway.
There is also a car park in the centre of Brunni. So motorists can start the hike from here. I reached the start of the route, i.e. Brunni SZ Restaurant, by bus no. 554 from the railway station in Einsiedeln.
